JSW Cement boosts overall installed capacity to 20.6 MTPA with strategic expansion

JSW Cement Expands Capacity, Reinforces Sustainability Goals
JSW Cement, a leading cement manufacturer in India, has significantly expanded its production capacity. The recent commissioning of a 2 MTPA unit at its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka has increased its total capacity to 20.6 MTPA. This expansion, fueled by a Rs 461 crore investment, positions JSW Cement as a major player in the Indian cement market.
The Vijayanagar facility now boasts a total capacity of 6 MTPA. Notably, its strategic location near JSW Steel allows for the utilization of blast furnace slag, a byproduct of steel production, in its cement manufacturing process. This innovative approach not only reduces waste but also produces a more sustainable and environmentally friendly cement product.
JSW Cement's expansion plans extend beyond the Vijayanagar plant. The company aims to further increase its capacity to 40.85 MTPA through a combination of greenfield and brownfield projects across India. This ambitious growth strategy is aligned with the company's commitment to sustainability, innovation, and integrated operations.
Nilesh Narwekar, CEO of JSW Cement, emphasized the company's dedication to sustainability. The new capacity addition not only helps meet the growing demand for cement but also supports JSW Cement's goal of reducing its environmental footprint. The company's focus on producing Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) cement is a testament to its commitment to eco-friendly practices and aligns with the global trend towards a circular economy.
